The Experiment of the Not-So-Solo Solopreneurs - Part 1

The Experiment of the Not-So-Solo Solopreneurs - Part 1

The whole idea of being a solopreneur is that you work alone... right?

Well, maybe not.

Recently, I decided to try an experiment. We created something called the Solopreneur Brain Trust. It's a monthly Zoom event where solopreneurs, freelancers, contractors, coaches and other one-person businesses can come together to share their challenges in breakout groups and then help each other.

The first one is tomorrow...

But would people care? I wasn't sure.

So I took to LinkedIn and found people in one-person businesses and asked if they would like to attend the event. Even though virtually none of them knew me, about half said yes!

It seems that a lot of solopreneurs like the idea of collaborating with other people. Which I think is very cool. And actually not that surprising. I've been a solopreneur and it can be lonely.

Now the question is, will it help?

I could go all rah-rah on you and say it absolutely, definitely will be a life-changing experience for the folks that participate. But honestly, I'm the kind of person that wants to either create real value for people or do something else. And it's not up to me whether this is worthwhile or not; that determination will be made by the one-person business owners who show up at the event tomorrow.

I am optimistic... and very nervous.

I'll let you know how it goes shortly.

Update:

The Solopreneur Brain Trust has been renamed to The Solopreneur Problem Solvers is held every 6 weeks and people seem to really love it.

If you are an established solopreneur of any kind, please join us. You can check it out here.

We now also have an event for everyone - established and aspiring solopreneurs. It's called Solopreneur Success Sessions. It's micro-conference that you can check out for here.
