2021 Productivity Inspiration From the Pros

2021 Productivity Inspiration From the Pros

Considering our team eats, breathes, and sleeps productivity (seriously, one of the best ideas I’ve ever had came to me in a dream), we totally geek out on consuming as much information on the topic as possible.

As we’ve digested countless blog articles and podcast episodes on the matter, there have been a handful of sound bites and quotes that have caught our attention, and we thought we’d share them with you.

If you could use a little inspiration to get things done, hopefully, these will help motivate you. If you’re a productivity machine, these can just help to fuel your fire. Hey, maybe you’ll even be featured in our next roundup!

  • “I have this whole philosophy called “do it ugly.” The thought is I would rather get something out there done and imperfectly and improve it than think for five years and never get it out there. And so I make money because I actually get stuff done.” - Michelle Jackson @MichLovesMoney
  • “Blocking out a bit of time to take care of yourself might feel like an indulgence in the middle of a pandemic, but it will actually leave you far better equipped to tackle the many challenges life is throwing at you right now.” - Jessica Stillman @EntryLevelRebel
  • “Burnout is not something that happens to you. It’s the result of the choices you make.” - Michael Hyatt @michaelhyatt

  • “When you get in the mindset of feeling accomplished — not overwhelmed — tasks become infinitely easier.” -Stephanie Burns @StephanieABurns
  • “Don’t be productive at the expense of being creative. Not only is creativity the lifeblood of the economy, but it’s part of being human.” - Aytekin Tank @aytekintank
  • “Saying ‘no’ is a form of self-care. It’s choosing to prioritize what’s important to you & your family.” - Mary Beth Ferrante @Marybeth_Wrk360
  • “We grow with challenges, so the challenges that we may all be in right now or experience in some way, shape, or form, they’re going to teach us strength, patience, and tolerance.” - David Allen @gtdguy
  • “Since we aren’t wired to focus on more than one thing at a time, cramming multiple tasks onto your to-do list will actually slow down your cognitive processing. You’re unable to organize your thoughts or filter out unnecessary information. As a result, your efficiency plummets—and so does the quality of your work.” - Kirsten Fawcett
  • “Do the hardest thing first every day. No excuses.” Joanne Heyman @joanneheyman
  • “See yourself as the gatekeeper of the most valuable resource on earth: Your mind. When you nurture it, eventually, it will do anything you want.” - Darius Foroux @DariusForoux
  • “Wait for your mind to tell you what it needs, rather than what it craves. After a certain amount of time, you’ll find that your brain has slowed. Then, go take that walk. Watch some Netflix. Listen to some music. Soak in a warm bath. It might just be one of the most productive things you’ll do today.” - Chris Bailey @Chris_Bailey
  • “Never fear failure; failure is just another opportunity to try again, except this time more wisely.” - Jade Nyx @jadenyx
  • “Trust that little voice in your head that says ‘wouldn’t it be great if…’ and then do it.” - Maria Forleo @marieforleo

If those quotes don’t make you want to race to your espresso machine and start cranking out your to-do list, I don’t know what will!

However, as motivating as the quotes are, don’t just dive into your task list mindlessly. Be thoughtful about how you’re going to approach it.

We’re firm believers in the Getting Things Done® (GTD®) methodology that David Allen created (it’s what inspired us to create LifeStarr). In a nutshell, Getting Things Done “is a personal productivity methodology that redefines how you approach your life and work.” Within this approach, David Allen recommends five clear steps to help get you organized (you can find even more information on his website):

  1. Capture - Collect what has your attention
  2. Clarify - Process what it means
  3. Organize - Put it where it belongs
  4. Reflect - Review frequently
  5. Engage - Simply do

Seems simple enough, right? What if I told you an app existed that helped you to operate this way and give you back hours of your week while staying organized and productive?

That’s exactly what LifeStarr does. It takes these practices and helps to streamline them for you, automatically, so that you can focus on what really matters to you. The best part? It’s free and always will be! Simply click the button below to sign up for the app.
