I am in hell!
What would make me say something so outrageous?
I'm moving - after 29 years in the same house!
There are so many things to deal with, most painfully, all the stuff that has built up over decades that I should not continue to own.
You're probably thinking, "Gee Joe, why are you telling me, a solopreneur, your moving sob story?"
Fair enough, but hear me out.
I've noticed a parallel between:
- Moving after decades in a house and;
- Running a business over a long period of time.
In business, we are more likely to acquire other kinds of stuff. Sure, there are things like old emails and files. But more importantly, sometimes we build up old business practices that don't really serve us optimally.
This might be because technological changes have made them obsolete, or maybe our business has changed, but we haven't adapted.
A lot can be gained by purging old business practices and finding new and better ways to turn your business to optimize your life. So as I go through this painful process of reimagining my possessions, I'm starting to imagine my life in my new home, optimized for my life now.
And I can see the sun shining. 🌞
Solo Together,
Joe Rando
