March 7th: Is solopreneurship right for you?
I didn't think solopreneurship was for me...
Obviously, here at Lifestarr, we are major cheerleaders for anybody entertaining the idea of solopreneurship or continuing with it after years of trial and error. So, whatever decision you make, we’ve got your back.
However, whether you're a starry-eyed newbie or a seasoned pro, the question of whether solopreneurship is your true calling deserves a thoughtful exploration. I’m just going to say it: solopreneurship is awesome, but it isn’t for everybody.
To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was cut out for it. Of course, the idea of being my own boss and creating my own hours was appealing, but I didn’t think I’d last more than a year (where was my optimism!?!?).
I thought the isolation would get to me. But here I am, eight years later, still going down this wild path of being a solopreneur. However, I wouldn’t be in this situation if I wasn’t constantly revisiting questions like:
Am I passionate about what I do?
Can I hold myself accountable to get things done?
Am I able to adapt and keep up with changing trends and technology (oh hey, AI)?
Am I doing OK financially?
Have I created a support system and do I get my much-needed interaction with others (I’m an extrovert)?
The list goes on and only you can answer those questions as it relates to your exisiting business, or your business idea that’s still in your head.
When it comes to solopreneurship, remember, the journey is just as important as the destination. It’s a continuous, dynamic process shaped by your dedication, mindset, and ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
