Should I use a due date or not?
Good question!!
Due dates are important, but should only be used if there actually is one. You don't want to overuse due dates. Due dates are the crucial tool that tell someone when a task is due and thus, allows them to organize their time efficiently. If you send someone a task and there really isn't a due date, don't use one.
