How do I create a new Task?

By creating a Task and including relevant details, LifeStarr will keep you organized and on track for completing the things you need to get done.

1) Click on the teal New button at the top of any screen

2) Click Task.

3) Enter a Task name. The name should start with an action word such as 'make a new file' or 'call my manager for approval' - using a general term such as 'Office Space' doesn't tell you quickly what you need to do.

4) Assign the Task.  You can assign it to yourself or someone else. When assigning it to someone else, simply enter an email address or choose a name from the drop down menu if they're already a Connection or a Contact in My People. If you don't see the name, just start typing it.

5) Enter a Start date. Most of the time the start date will be today, however, you can enter a start date in the future and this will place the Task on hold until the Start Date commences.

6) Enter a Due date. Most Tasks will have specific due dates, but some may not.  If you have a Task that needs to be done, but not by a specific date, just leave the Due Date field blank.

7) Enter a detailed description of the Task, especially if you are assigning it to someone else. The Assignee should have all the information they need to decide whether or not they accept or decline the Task, and as much information as possible to be able to complete the Task.

8) Enter a Role by typing it in or choose from the drop down list if you already have Roles entered. Roles are broad categories, like an umbrella, that many Tasks can fall under such as Work, Home, School, etc. This will help with organization, searching and filtering.

9) Enter your Tags by typing them in or by choosing them from the drop-down box. Tags are simply individual words that help identify each Task. This will be helpful in the future for organizing, searching and filtering.  You can enter as many tags as you'd like, but it's smart to be judicious in their creation so you can find related Tasks easily.

10) Enter any Collaborators you want to have access to this task.  They may not be an active participant, but you want them in the loop.  You can type their email address or choose them from the drop down list if they're a Connection or Contact in My People.  If you don't see the name, just start typing it.

11) Click Add File to add any files you want to attach to this task and choose it from your device.

12) Click Add Private Note if you choose to write one. These are private and only you can see them.

13) When you are done entering the basic information, click Save and you will be taken to the detail screen where you will see a summary of your Task.

14) Review the Task for accuracy and click Close.
